C is for Cookie

We had a change of plans for this weekend and unfortunately it was not for a good reason.  My Aunt Cookie, who has been battling cancer for the past few months, passed away Thursday morning.  We quickly had to make plans to travel to Montgomery for the funeral.  Chris wasn't able to get off work, then my niece Mackenzie broke her arm, so in the end, Logan and I rode over with my brother.  The service was very nice, and Logan was an angel the whole time.  (Besides the constipation and all the grunts during the graveside service!)
We got to spend a little time with Jack and Uncle Josh bought the boys cute matching outfits.

For some reason, our neighborhood decided to trick or treat Saturday night, and Logan was passed out by the time we finally pulled in.  So, Daddy and I dress Logan up Sunday morning and took his "Halloween" pictures.  I guess he'll have to wait for real trick or treating until next year.  Oh well, it's not like he would really know what's going on anyways.

Here are a few of my favorites and I tried using Picasa to play with the pictures a little.

What are you?

See his two bottom teeth coming through?

Happy Halloween!

Mommy and Logan

My good friend and co-worker, Megan, is venturing into the world of photography so I asked her if she wanted to try to take a few pictures of Logan and me.  When you barely have time to shave your legs, and shower and throw your make up on in two minutes each day, the last thing you want to do is take pictures.  So it was nice to take a few minutes to actually get ready and I was finally able to go get my hair done on Friday.
I think she did a great job.  Both of our husbands were working so we were balancing two babies plus the wind.  I love the pictures she got and can't wait for her to take more.

New Sippy

I got Logan a new sippy cup to try with a straw yesterday and he loves it! He figured it out right away and I haven't been able to keep it away from him since. Excuse the messy bib and the "surprise" at the end!

Cousins Having Fun!

Cousin Daniel is staying at Mimi and Pop's house while his parents are on a vacation, so we have had a lot of time to play with Daniel! It's been fun! We went over tonight for play time and dinner. I caught this cute video while they boys were playing! They were having so much fun together! I'm glad Daniel's parents went out of town so we could have Daniel so close! :)

Giddy Up!

Is this the cutest cowboy you've ever seen?  This is Uncle Josh's rocking horse from when he was a little boy!

I better hold on tight!

Only real cowboys have boots!

This is fun, Mommy!

What do you mean he's not a real horse!

9 months!

3/4's of the way to a year!   We had a great check up yesterday and he was a champ through his shots.  His two bottom teeth have broken through, and I can't wait to see what he will look like with little teeth in his mouth!  He cracks me up with his tongue and his teeth.  Almost all day, he is doing what he is doing in the picture above.  He rubs his tongue back and forth over the teeth.  I guess it feels so new and different to him.

Weight: 21 lbs. 14 oz.  All the crawling is paying off!  This is the first month Logan has not gained at least 1 pound.  He's still in the 75th percentile.
Length: 28 1/4 inches.  No growth since last month, but puts Logan at exactly 50th percentile.
Eating: EVERYTHING!!  Logan is still quite the little eater and has now added so many new finger foods to his diet.  He loves to feed himself!  Some of his favorites are Cheerios, Goldfish, grilled cheese, toast, eggs, cheese, yogurt, mixed vegetables, turkey meat, pears, bananas, see what I mean?  Pretty much anything!
He is still nursing 3 times a day and gets two bottles of Mommy's milk while I am at work.  I am so thankful that nursing is still going great for us!  The doctor was so impressed with Logan's eating.  She said it's so great that we have him eating so many table foods and it will help him to not be a picky eater later in life.
Wearing:  Logan is wearing 12 month clothes and 12-18 month clothes.  He is in a size 5 shoe.  We are still using size 3 diapers.
Sleeping:  Sleeping is still going great.  He goes down around 7:30, wakes up around 5 and goes back to sleep until about 7:30.  He normally takes about a 2 hour nap in the morning and a 45 minute nap in the afternoon.
Social Skills: Logan is trying to wave bye-bye.  When we wave or he sees someone wave, he just stares at their hands and you can see his hand go in and out, but I'm not sure he even realizes he's doing it.  He is babbling like crazy and says baba and mama among many other noises.  Chris swears he is trying to say the d sound, but I haven't heard it yet.  I will say, I am working really hard to get Logan to say Dada.  I know Chris is just waiting to hear those precious words come out of his mouth.  I read that separation anxiety can peak around this time, but luckily we haven't really had to experience this yet.
Motor Skills:  It seems like he is doing something new everyday.  He is of course, crawling everywhere!  He loves for us to chase him on the floor and say, "I'm gonna get you!".  He has even started to crawl after me if I am "running" from him on the floor.  He can pull himself up from sitting, and sit from standing.  Well, okay, more like fall on his tush from standing.  He likes to stand up and only hold on to things with one hand.  Twice he has stood up without holding on to anything for about 4 seconds while we were at Mimi's!  That was pretty exciting to see.  We still have a long way to go until walking...thank goodness!
He is really good a banging two balls together and can clap his hands together (when he wants to!)

Scratch that off the list...

We have Logan's 9 month check up scheduled for this coming Thursday, so I have been working on my list of questions to discuss with the doctor.  Last week, I wrote down to discuss babbling.  Logan is vocal and makes several sounds, but I hadn't heard him doing repeated sounds, like bababababa or dadadadada.  I wasn't overly concerned, but just thought I would ask her about it.  Well he must have know I wrote it down, because Wednesday when I got home from work I was greeted with, "bababababababa..." until he went to bed.  He has continued to show off his new skill since then, and I have to say his little voice is just so darn  cute!
Today we went to Granddaddy's house to play with Mackenzie while she is staying with them for the weekend.  Dad and I were letting Logan practice walking between us, while holding his hands and we thought he said, "Hey, Ma-ma".  It sounded pretty clear, but I figured that I was just hearing things.
Logan was having a ball playing with Granddaddy's vertical blinds and of course, was babbling away.  Then I heard one of the most precious sounds a mother will ever get to experience.

Here's what the next few seconds sounded like:
Logan: "Ahh bababa...bababa......"  "Ma-ma"
Me, Dad and Barbara: "He just said Mama!"
Me: "He really just said Mama?"

Hearing him say that melted my heart!  It made me tear up!  I can't believe that he is so big and doing so many new things.  I can't wait to hear him say it again and of course.....we'll be working on Dada!

Fall is Here!

Atlanta weather is so crazy!  Just a few days ago, we were still in the 90's, but all of the sudden it got chilly!!  I am excited though because Logan has so many new cute outfits for cooler weather.  We had a really fun weekend; I am sad to see it go!

Saturday my school had it's Annual Block Party, which was a lot of fun.  Josh, Mackenzie, Granddaddy and Barbara all came to see us and support our school.  Logan even got to have some Bruster's Ice cream!  Yummy!
Too much fun for one day!

Josh and Mackenzie coloring!

After the Block Party, we headed to Bert's Pumpkin Patch.  Josh and Megan got a few pumpkins for the house, but I decided to wait until Chris could come with us.  We did have a chance to take some pictures though.  By the way, did you know there are people who pay $100 for a pumpkin?

And a few more pictures....

Such a fun weekend!  Can't wait for the next one!
