Our Tree's Not Bare, but Something Else Is!

I can't help but post these pictures.  Logan wanted nothing to do with his diaper the other night and we had a left over strand of lights out, SO.....

(Oh and Yes, I know he will kill me for these pictures one day, but I can picture it now.  He brings his first serious girlfriend over and Mommy gets to whip out these pictures...hahaha!  I can't wait!!!)

I have the hardest time getting him to sit still, but we turned the lights on, got the camera out and he literally just starting posing...

like a model!

Then he got a little silly...

Then he checked out the tree before Mommy ended the fun with a diaper and bed time!

Missing Shoes

I guess Logan was missing his brown shoes since we got the new shoes last week.  He saw them sitting in the shoe bucket and grabbed them on the way to bed last night.  He hung on to them while brushing his teeth, reading his books, and had the death grip on them when it was time to get in the bed.  Of course, I had to sneak in and get a picture.

Chris said when he went in to get Logan this morning, he had both shoes under one arm and his book in the other hand.  He is so funny!

Seriously though, how sweet is this baby?

It Can't Hurt

After some deliberation, I put a call into Logan's doctor this afternoon to discuss his speech.  We spoke at his 18 month appointment and she said that if he didn't have 50-100 words by Thanksgiving to give her a call and we'd go from there.  When I spoke with her tonight, I explained that if I wrote a list of any word that Logan has ever said I think I could get to 20, but if I wrote a list of words he uses regularly, it might be half of that...maybe.
We discussed that he definitely understands everything we say, follows commands, and communicates with us in other ways (grunting, pointing, crying, taking our hands, etc.)  She said that if he wasn't showing signs of communicating with us or understanding us, she would be very concerned.  She also was straight forward with me and said that technically if he didn't have at least 50 words by his second birthday then he would be considered not meeting that developmental milestone.

I know I can over worry...remember the tip toe worry I had? So, I asked his doctor to be honest with me and if I was jumping the gun on this then to just tell me and I would be okay to wait this out.  She explained that he may just be a late talker, but she knows me and knows that I would be happier if we went ahead with the speech evaluation, and she also said, "it can't hurt."
So, we are going to try to schedule it during my Winter Break from school.  She said before a speech evaluation, they will require that his hearing is checked, so that is on my list to schedule tomorrow.  We are going to try to go through the state and Babies Can't Wait program.  Like I said in my other post about his tip toes.  I'm sure everything is fine, but I would rather be overcautious than find out later that we could have been doing to help him now.

We do all of the normal talking to him, reading books, flash cards with animals, naming things when we see them, but I just wonder if there is something I can do to help him use the words that he knows and how to best continue to acquire and use new words.

Wish us luck!
My mom gave Logan this cute hat and a matching outfit.  He somehow got distracted and left the hat on long enough for me to snap this picture.

Welcome Baby Girl!

We are so blessed to welcome Baby Shiloh Sevin to the family.  She was born on November 18, 2011.  She is beautiful and so sweet!

Yes, that was me holding her just minutes after she was born!  We just happened to be back in Hope's room waiting when she came back.

Seeing her and holding her tiny little body makes me miss that teeny little baby stage...Yep, I've got a little bit of baby fever....BUT, no babies here, not for a while at least....that is unless we win the lottery.  Anybody want to buy me a ticket?  :)

We love you, Baby Shiloh!

Wrapped...

Logan pretty much has everyone wrapped around his little finger, especially his Pop that he is so fortunate to spend so much time with.  Mimi was home one morning last week and sent me this picture.

Homemade pancakes, a freshly made fruit smoothie in his cup, and playing on Mimi's laptop while relaxing on the couch.  Wrapped around his grandparents' fingers?  I'd say...YES!

Big Foot!

We were just a Stride Rite, not even 6 weeks ago, buying Logan a new pair of shoes.  I noticed a few days ago that his "new" shoes were getting tight and his toes were all the way at the end.
Luckily Stride Rite was having 1/2 off all sneakers today, so I headed in to see if Logan's foot really had grown and if we needed to get new shoes.  Not only did his foot grow, but it went up a WHOLE size in just 6 weeks!!!  Obviously, he has been going through a growth spurt.
We got a great deal.  The shoes were regularly $40, but we got 1/2 off plus I had a $5 coupon, so we walked out with a $15 pair of new shoes.  I had a little chat with Logan that he must slow down his growth.  He's getting too big too fast.  Plus, Mommy and Daddy are going to have to get second jobs if we have to buy new shoes every 6 weeks!

So here they are....His new size 8 wide shoes!!  Cute, aren't they?

Nighttime Entertainment

Long gone are the days of partying, drinking and staying up late to keep us entertained.  Now all we have to do is see what Logan takes to bed, super stealth sneak into his room, snap a photo of him without him waking up and giggling like little kids once we are in the clear.
Chris and I love the age Logan is at.  (You know I've said that every month since Logan was born).  It really does just keep getting better and better.  He has such a personality right now, and is constantly making us laugh.

We put new batteries in the light up snowman ornament, so it never left his hands, and he found a new use for the baby links...bracelets!  (Yes, Daddy was really proud of his little accessorizing man!  AGAIN!) :)

Caught that just in time...

I had just stripped Logan down after his morning bath of oatmeal, and was trying to make coffee and clean up the kitchen.  Logan got very quiet so I looked around the corner and noticed he had something in his hand, but his back was turned toward me.  I ran in, hands dripping wet, and found the little artist beginning a masterpiece.  Once I took the Sharpie from him, I had to snap a picture.  It was pretty funny!  I am very lucky he didn't decide to give our carpet a new look, or attack the rest of his body.  I'm pretty sure I stopped this just in time!

Training Him Early!

Logan is such a big helper around the house.  He loves to vacuum when I vacuum.  He helps me pull the clothes from the washer to the dryer and the dryer to the floor.  He also loves to pull things out of cabinets and rearrange them or find a new spot for them.  He has always been a fan of the dishwasher, but very recently he has decided to take this putting away the dishes job very seriously.  Check out what a helper he as become.  If only he was a little taller to see which spot to put the silverware in.

I'm glad my son is such a fan of kitchens and helping with household chores.  His wife will thank me one day!  :)

Smells Like a Man

So, we have had a few more silly items make it into the bed in the last few nights.  Sunday night, after the big Saints win, he decided he had to take his football to bed!  Guess he was really pumped like his daddy.

Last night, he had been toting around Chris's empty bottle of aftershave and there was no way he was going to willingly give it up.  After a little hesitation, I decided to just let him take it, and I planned on sneaking in to get it after he feel asleep.  He went right down and I went in around 11:00 to get grab the bottle, snap a picture and sneak out without him waking up.  When I opened the door and looked at him, I saw the cap was off and his room had an ode' de man smell.  I got the bottle out and went back to bed.

When he woke up this morning, I got him out of the crib and as I was kissing him, I felt like I had a grown man in my arms.  Even though there was no aftershave left in the bottle, I think the smell just engulfed him.  Chris had to give him a good scrub down before school this morning.  We can't have grown men going to preschool!

1, 2, 3...JUMP!

We had a fun time at Granddaddy's!  Logan wants to be just like his big cousin Mackenzie!  She loves to mother him and be the big helper!

How cute are they?

Pee Pee in the bed?

You may remember my post about how my son is probably the only child who refuses a lovey or security blanket.   Well, I think we have reached a new level of strange things to bring to bed.  It's like he grabs the last thing he can think of as we are on the way to rock and read.  He's grabbed books, balls, trucks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shoes, and even overalls, but last night takes the cake.

We bought a seat to go on the potty in his bathroom so that when he takes a bath we can sit him on it and practice going potty. Thankfully, he hasn't actually done that yet because he decided to pull off the cushy part of the potty seat and take that bad boy to bed with him.  I let him hold it while we rocked and read our stories and then literally tried to pry it out of his hands when placing him in the crib.  He very clearly told me "NO", and then proceeded to throw a miniture fit.  Since it didn't have any potty germs on it yet, I figured why not, at least it will make for a funny picture!

So, around 10:30 last night, I did the stealth creep into his room and blindly shot the camera over the crib rail, praying he wouldn't wake up.  Here's what I caught.  You better believe I high-tailed it out of his room faster than you can say "Pee on the Pot-ty"

This still makes me giggle!!

Tonight he tried to take his Halloween balloons to bed, but Mommy won that battle and he ended up taking a dump truck!  :)
