Summer Swinging

Mackenzie and Logan enjoyed a delicious summer ice cream treat on the porch swing.  I'm not sure what is sweeter, the ice cream or these babies' faces!

Won't be long before they are driving this golf cart for real!

Frozen Watermelon

We have a new favorite treat around our house.  It's frozen watermelon on a stick.  It's super easy, super cheap and super healthy.  Logan was enjoying one the other day and I just had to snap a few pictures.  Is it just me or does he look so grown up in these pictures?

Saying "Cheese" so Mommy would stop taking pictures  :)

Not the baby anymore

Two weeks ago Logan completed his first year of preschool and he is officially in the 2 year old class for next year.  He is no longer the "baby" of his school.  He will be going three mornings a week next year and we are thrilled!  We had a rough start, but with lots of love from his wonderful teachers he soon came to love preschool.
I was able to take off work to come to their End of the Year Program and party and it was adorable!  The theme was God Bless America, and of course "our babies" looked precious!

Happy Boy, until he realized it was Mommy taking the picture...then he melted down a little...

They put together this little slide show with pictures from throughout the year and Logan was featured twice!

Then we went back to the room for the party.
The fit continues for a little bit.

Logan's teachers told me this is his favorite spot.  He takes the sink out, crawls in the cabinet....

and POPS his head up!

Thank you Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Cindy!!  We miss you already!

Mother's Day

Oops!  I'm a little late; I think I've been too busy having fun with little man the last few days.  We have kept each other busy and he hasn't left my side.  I think he likes having Mommy home.

Mother's Day was wonderful this year!  It was pretty rainy and yucky outside we stayed in most of the day and just had some family time.  We also had a yummy dinner at Mimi and Pops house.

Logan made me this sweet gift at school two weeks ago.  (Daddy got one too for Father's Day!)

I also got a few very sweet cards from my boys, my dad and my mom.  My dad's card was hand made, but of course, we know those are the sweetest!  I think it's so sweet that both of my parents honor me on Mother's Day, too!

Being a Mommy is the best thing that has ever happened to me.  Everyone always says, you will never understand the love you have for your child until you become a parent, and they are so true.  I never imaged the love I feel for him was even possible, and somehow it grows every single day.
I am truly blessed not only to be a mommy, but for God to have chosen us to be Logan's parents.

Stick Figures

Don't see your face, well send us a picture!

Logan is loving the "stick people" and can name every person here.  He is also able to group everyone into families.  Just about two weeks ago, he started saying, "Me!" when he gets to himself.  It's really cute!  We started working on who is a boy and who is a girl today.

Swimming with the Fish?

Logan loves the pond at Mimi and Pop's house, and more than that, he loves to throw rocks into the pond.  He would spend hours standing, laying or sitting by the pond if we let him.

Mimi and Pop were watching Logan about two weeks ago and they were all sitting outside, of course, Logan was laying near the pond tossing fish food and rocks into the pond.  I got a text from Mimi that said, "Guess who went swimming in the pond?"
Mimi told me he was laying down and must have reached a little too far and PLOP, head first into the pond.  Mimi pulled him out by his feet, he cried for just a few seconds, and she took him inside to change, where he promptly requested, "OUTSIDE!"

(This was him, right after he went swimming with the fish)

Ch, Ch, Changes...

After a long year and a lot of work, I am officially finished with my gifted endorsement (Thank God!).  I am so excited to announce that I accepted a new position at a new school as a Gifted Teacher!!  This is HUGE!!  Not only is the school closer to my house, but it is at an amazing school.  I can say goodbye to report cards, SST meetings, stacks of paperwork, pressures of state testing, writing assessments, 20 page lessons plans to write each week and loads of other paperwork and stress.
I know this job will have it's own stress, but nothing like what I have right now.

There is a teeny part of me that is sad about leaving my current school.  I've been at this school for 6 1/2 years and feel like it's home.  I know everyone, know where everything is, and feel very established.  The thought of being the new kid makes me a little nervous, but I know that's pretty normal and I know I will feel at home in no time.
This opportunity sort of just fell in my lap, thanks to a little help from a girl I used to work with.  She emailed me about two months ago to let me know there may be a gifted position open at her school.  I hadn't even considered looking for a gifted position, since they are very hard to get.  There is typically only one or two positions at each school.  I met her principal while observing their school one day and she emailed me to come in for an interview about two weeks later.  We interviewed with a group of 6 people on a Monday afternoon at 4:00, and I have to say, I walked out feeling like I nailed it!  The principal told me she would call me in a few days.  I was shocked when my phone rang Monday night at 8:45 with the principal offering me the position!!!  I get a great new school, new principal, and get to work with a good friend who happens to be an amazing teacher, too!

Cheers to Changes!!!

Having a drink with Granddaddy

No, Logan has not started stealing Granddaddy's beer yet, but they did enjoy a drink together (from the hose, that is).  We went to Granddaddy's on Saturday and it was pretty hot out, so we grabbed the hose and you can see the fun that emerged.  I had to run upstairs to grab the camera, and I was able to capture some of the most precious moments I have seen my dad and Logan have.  The joy and innocence I saw in Logan's face and his smile was enough to melt this Mama's heart.  I have pictures from when I was about Logan's age with my Granddaddy and as I was snapping these pictures, I couldn't help but think that these are the pictures that Logan will treasure forever as he remembers the fun he shared with his Granddaddy.

That is pure joy!

Trying really hard to spit the water like Granddaddy

This is my favorite picture!!!  Look at that smile!

He was dripping wet, but so not ready to stop!
