Bathroom Re-do!

When we first moved in the house 6 years ago, everything was newly painted in a fresh white color that we actually liked at the time. Once we found out Logan was a boy, we quickly got started painting his room in bright blue and green colors and had plans to paint more of the house, but like so many other things it got pushed to the side.
Logan's bathroom probably had it worst of all.  It was the boring white color, with even more boring towels, rugs and shower curtain.

Yuck...what was I thinking?

So a few weeks ago, I found this adorable shower curtain and I got G.G. to sew an extra panel on the bottom and ric rac between.  Then, I decided, because it is such a tiny bathroom, to hang it as close to the ceiling as possible, in hopes to elongate the room.

I wasn't sure what color to do on the wall since there are so many colors in the curtain.  We opted for a light grey color.  I lucked out and had almost a full can of white paint in the garage that Home Depot colored for FREE so my paint cost me nothing!

We added two white floating shelves above the toilet for some extra storage.  I have not found the decor I like for these yet, but just added a few things for the picture.  I would like to add a large dark wooden frame to sit on the top shelf and a few folded up hand towels on the bottom.

I have also added a very cute polka dot soap dispenser and ABC toothbrush holder.

I am thrilled with how it has turned out so far and I'll have to post the finished product once the shelves are finished and I find a rug that I like.

Do you think it looks better? :)  It's not so BLAH anymore!

Everything's Better with Cousins!

I can't believe summer is almost over!  I have about 2 1/2 more days and I'm getting more upset by the minute.  Not only is waking up at 5:15 getting me down, but the thought of being away from my little man all day makes my heart hurt.  I have been such a bad blogger, so this post is going to be pretty big.  We've had a ton of fun this summer with all of our cousins doing all kinds of fun things, so I thought I'd share some of my favorite pictures.

We went to visit cousins Jack and Anna in Alabama and had a blast.  The kids had so much fun playing together and getting to spend time with my cousin in never a bad thing.

Look at all of that curly hair!  Can you tell they are related?

Mackenzie came over and they had so much fun playing we clearly wore her out!

She is O.U.T.

Then we went to Mimi's house for some fun with Daniel and Shiloh.  We took the kids for a walk to see ad feed the horses.  Logan thought it would be a good idea to wear a helmet, although it is backwards and too small.

It's been an exciting summer and it makes it even better when you can share it with cousins!

A Day with the Fish

Logan and I made our annual trip to the Georgia Aquarium for my birthday a few weeks ago.  This is our 3rd year going and of course, this was his best trip yet.  We got there as soon as it opened and had the place to ourselves.  We thought Chris was going to have to work, but he ended up surprising us about 45 minutes into our trip and was able to join us for our underwater adventure.

I think the phrase, a picture is worth a thousand words, applies here.  I'm not sure I could even explain the joy on his face as he saw each of his favorite animals come to life.  I can't wait to take him back in a few months.

I told Logan we were going to see the fish, so naturally, he grabbed his beach hat.  (Jessie and Horse had to come, too!)

We were alone...literally a.l.o.n.e.

tunnel aquarium.  Sharks overhead!

Simply amazed!

Doesn't he look so big?

The jellyfish were glowing

He said, "Oh, there it is!" about a million times

Old McDonald Needs Him

Does every parent feel this way?  Like your child is BY FAR the cutest thing to walk this earth.  Every little thing he does (for the most part) and every little sound he makes is just the cutest thing.  He is still majorly obsessed with animals and animal sounds.  The way his little goat and sheep sounds shake are just the cutest.  I could listen to him all day.  Wait, I do!

Making Sentences, but Breaking Backs

Logan is still in love with Jessie, Woody and Horse, and all things cowboy.  He's been such a good helper this summer, while I've done a little work, he got a few prizes.  He got a new Jessie, Woody and Horse.  He loves to make them ride and they pretty much go everywhere with us.

Logan also really loves to take horsey rides on mommy's back around the house, but most of all he loves for Daddy to give him a horsey ride.  His little squeals crack me up and I'm convinced he could never get enough of this.  We are working on building sentences, especially the sentence "I want......" so you'll hear us trying to get him to tell us what he wants.  (As if it wasn't obvious!)

Hottest Dang Day of the Year!

Holy Moly!  I thought I'd have so much time on my hands this summer, but yikes, where has the time gone!  I'm going to try to do some catch up for what's been happening the last few weeks.

Atlanta had some record breaking weather a few weeks ago, and one day it got up to 106!  Well, like Murphy's law says, on the hottest dang day, our A/C went kaput!  Not just broken, I mean totally, 100% DEAD!!  So after many curse words, lots of tears, several days of stress, my HERO dad came to the rescue and offered to help us out.
We had to get our entire system replaced and just like he's always been there for me, my dad was there to help in one of our most desperate situations.  Thanks again Dad and thanks to everyone who allowed us to come hang out and cool off.  :)

(This was one of the cooler moments upstairs)

Luckily, my awesome husband finished our basement complete with bathroom, surround sound and toys.  We spent 5 nights camped out down in the basement with the window unit on full blast!  Although sleeping on the air mattress wasn't my idea of a 5-star accommodations, it actually was a little fun having all of us down there together watching movies and just hanging out.

Logan's little bed, before he decided it was much more comfortable on the air mattress with us!

We are the proud new owners of a beautiful new unit and it runs beautifully!!  I caught myself complaining to Chris the other night that it was too cold when I got into bed.  He gave my that are you serious look and I quickly remembered the days of hell and threw the covers over me as fast as I could!

I think it was worth it

Yesterday Granddaddy meet us at the mall before we went to dinner and Logan really wanted to ride the choo choo, so I told him he had to ask Granddaddy.
Of course, Granddaddy wanted to, but I think his eyes fell out of his head when he saw it was $4 per person to ride.  After watching them and seeing the smile of Logan's face, I'm pretty sure it was worth every cent.  Thanks Granddaddy!

(Of course, Woody and Jessie had to ride, too, but they were free!)

Husband skill #42

On my mission to make Logan into the perfect husband for the woman of his dreams one day, we've been doing a lot of practicing with grocery shopping.

Some days he just rides along.  Yes, that is a whole bag of Lucky Charms.  Like I told the lady at the register, "Judge if you must, but he really just likes to be in control of the bag and really doesn't even eat that much."  Plus, if he's happy it makes shopping a thousand times easier.

Other days, he takes charge and finds exactly what we need in the store.  I think he's shaping up to be quite a catch!

He so wishes he could jump in and drive his Mama home, but not yet.  We got about 12 1/2 more years for that.  :)

Cagle's Family Tour

We met a few friends and headed out (right across the street) for our annual Cagle's Farm Tour last week.  Although it was really hot, like up to 106 that day, we had a great time.  Logan is pretty obsessed with animals right now, so he was really into seeing all of the animals and saying their names.  He also liked pointing out which ones were babies and which were the mommies.  He got much closer than last year  in the petting and feeding part, but decided he rather look at everything from a few inches away.  :)

On the hayride

Checking out the ducks with his buddies

Checking out the cows, but a little unsure

The cows came running right up to the tractor

I can't wait to take Logan back in the fall for the corn maze and grilled corn!
