Christmas Vacation

We have had a BLAST while Mommy has been on break from work.  Logan, who normally has no concept of sleeping in, has been sleeping in until about 7:30 or 8 most mornings.  I guess he knew Mommy needed the sleep, too!

We began celebrating Christmas at my mom's house and of course, she went over the top with decorations, food, and gifts for everyone.

Mackenzie and Logan were a little to busy with the iphones to notice much else!

After dinner, they enjoyed ice cream cones!

Then, we opened presents!  Logan got a very cool cash register and Mickey outfit from my mom.  He was very excited about both!

After that we headed to my brothers for a sleep over.  Mackenzie and Logan snuggled up to watch Elf on the Shelf movie.  They were all bundled up with The Grinch quilt G.G. made.

Logan was in rare form on Christmas Eve, due to his lack of a nap, so he was a little bit of a bear.  We drug him to church at 4:30, and of course in the midst of a meltdown in the car, he fell asleep about 1/2 way to church.  Chris stayed in the car with Logan, while we went into church.  It was a great service with a candle lit Silent Night at the end.  (Always makes me tear up).   G.G. even came with us, which made it so much better.
After church, we headed back to Mimi and Pop's house for gumbo and presents.  To say we were all SPOILED ROTTEN would not even come close to being accurate.
Here are a few of the pictures:

Logan got a new pair of pajamas and wanted to try them on, but of course, had to do it himself!

hmm...almost.  Good try!
Mimi got the boys these awesome suitcases.  The kids can actually ride them while you pull them through the airport or where ever your travels take you!

They also got Mickey suitcases for sleepovers.  Okay Mimi, I get the message, you think Logan needs to spend the night!

Gigi got to hold sweet Shiloh!

We went home to get to bed so Santa could come see us.  We talked about Santa, but Logan was still a little to young to really get it.  Mommy, Daddy and G.G. sure had fun!

I snuck down after Santa visited and look what I saw!

Logan woke up Christmas morning and running down the stairs screaming, "Mommy, Daddy, look what Santa brought me" and then he tore into all of his gifts while screaming with delight.  UMMM....Yeah NOT EVEN CLOSE!

Logan decided he needed to start his morning with his favorite video...Elf on the Shelf

We tried showing him all of the awesome things Santa brought him, but instead, Logan wanted to read one of his favorite animal books...Oye...I think Santa's feelings were starting to get hurt.

Mimi and Pop came over for breakfast and we opened a few more gifts.

G.G. made Logan two more beautiful quilts.  The first picture is The Grouchy Ladybug and the second is Goodnight Moon, which just so happens to be Logan's favorite book.  She also made him an adorable matching pillow case.  He is so lucky!
a new laptop

I bet this was G.G.'s sweetest gift!  Kisses from her great grandson!

A little later Granddaddy and Barbara came over and Logan got even more cool stuff!

After all of that excitement and fun family time there was only one thing left to do...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!  Can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for us!

Checking the Light in the Fridge

I left Logan with Chris the other night, so I could go see my niece who was in the hospital and visit with her Mommy.  While I was away, I sent Chris a text to see how Logan was doing.  This is what I got in return:

After I picked myself up from the floor from laughing so hard, I got a little worried, and wrote Chris back.  He said, "Wait until you see the video!"

Well...Here it is.  I think I've watched it 64 times!!!  I love it more that he has his new Froggy boots on all while "checking the light in the fridge."

Now We Wait

We had the second screening last week for Babies Can't Wait, the program we are using to get Logan evaluated for speech therapy services.  The woman came out and asked us another 30 minutes of questions, and gave us more information about the program.  We have his team evaluation set up for January 11th.  They only do them on Wednesday mornings, so of course there was a little bit of a wait.

She explained that there will be a team of 3 or 4 people in the room with us and they will do a play evaluation with Logan and observe and interact with him to gather more data.  After the evaluation, the team will meet to determine eligibility and let us know before we go home.

I am a little nervous about it, but at the same time, I am happy to hear what they say.  As I've mentioned before, I'm a worrier, so this will give me some reassurance either that he is fine and we need to just wait it out or that he needs a little help and we know what to do to allow him to be successful with his expressive language.

So, for now, we are just going to keep trying to get our little guy to talk to us, and patiently wait for January 11th.

Family Pictures 2011

My long time teaching buddy and very dear friend, Megan Dempsey, ventured away from school this year in order to stay at home with her little boy and to follow her dreams of becoming a photographer.  While I have missed her terribly at school, I am so proud of her and what she is doing.  She is an amazing photographer and was so sweet to do a last minute family photo shoot for us and for Logan's 2 year pictures.

I have just about 100 pictures and believe me I would love to show you each one, but here are a few of my favorites:

I'll post his 2 year pictures when I post the sneak peek to his birthday party!

Logan's First Christmas Play and Party

I was able to take off work last Thursday to go to see Logan in his Christmas play at school and help at his party.  He had an ear infection and sinus infection (he was on meds), so he wasn't feeling totally like himself.  I had to sneak out of his class to get upstairs and he got very upset.  That lead to poor Ms. Stephanie having to hold Logan and pull the rest of the crew in the crib, I mean sleigh.
The pictures didn't come out very well, but let me tell you these are the cutest little reindeer I have ever seen!

After the "play" we headed back down to the classroom for the party.  My little man wouldn't touch his food, he just laid in my lap and was pretty much ready for a nap.  We collected his stocking, all his goodies from his friends, a beautiful hand made ornament, and headed home around 11:00 to help Daddy celebrate his 34th birthday!

Deck the Halls

I am so lucky to have such an amazing and talented family.  My Nana, is the most amazing quilter I have ever seen.  We are blessed to have her make us so many beautiful quilts.  Remember the beautiful quilts she made Logan before he was born?  Nana helped us make our home a little more merry this year, we a new tree skirt, a beautiful table runner and placements, as well as an awesome Grinch quilt for Logan.

I have a very talented mother who also helped us decorate and seems to add a little more each year.  I'll show you a few of my favorite things around the house:

A friendly elf hanging out on the banister

Our "Elf on the Shelf" hiding on the mantle.

Logan's "Okay to touch" shelf.

I love this Nativity.  It's made by Willow Tree.  You can also see Nana's beautiful runner under it.

Our beautiful Christmas tree skirt.

Not a Fan

We took Logan to see Santa on Thursday, and I think the picture says it all:

While going through my old pictures I found this picture of my brother and me.  I think I was probably a little older than Logan is now.  Looks like I wasn't the biggest fan either.

Still a clone? (part 2)

Yes....of his mama!!!   Wow!  I keep hearing people say how Logan is starting to look more like me, but seeing this comparison really shows it.  He still looks a lot like his daddy and makes a lot of his same facial expressions, but I have to say he's looking a lot like Mommy!!!

Good Boys Get Good Treats!

After being such good boys during a going away lunch and a few errands with their mommies, Logan and Wyatt picked out matching chocolate suckers in Hallmark the other day.  They were such good boys, and Megan and I just couldn't say no.  So, in true Logan style (no biting) he tried to shove the ENTIRE sucker in his mouth in ONE bite!  He would have been successful had it not broke and his mother, who was revisiting how to do the heimlich, reaching back and yanking the chocolate treasure out of his mouth!

What sucker?

Don't Eat That!

I swear Logan does wear clothes, I just seem to keep grabbing the camera while he's naked.  We took his clothes off after playing outside tonight, and of course, he pitched a fit about getting his diaper on.  So, we let him "hang out" for a little bit.  He ripped off his tennis shoes and ran straight for the boots.  (Logan better ask Santa to bring him a new pair of boots, we had quite a time trying to squeeze his feet into the boots.)  After an uneventful trip to the potty, my little naked chef got busy in his kitchen.

Whoops!   I wouldn't eat that if I were you!  :)
